Let's talk about Leadership and what it means. Leaders are not simply those children who manage to exert influence over their peers. Leaders are people that inspire others. A leader is someone that creates a vision of the future then motivates people to aspire towards that future. As teachers and educators our primary goals are to guide our students and foster their academic and personal growth.
We do this through our teaching. What you teach is not nearly as important as how you teach. Whatever the content or context it is how you present the information that will light or quench the fires of progress. On a daily basis we have the opportunity to guide our children. We should challenge our students by encouraging the quiet ones, silencing the loud ones, engaging everyone, and nurturing all. We open the world for our students by improving their knowledge and understanding of it. This is what we pass on to our students. We show them the world through our lessons by making it fun and interesting, we can engage them. We have the ability as adults to see the all the incredible positive and encouraging things that are going on all around the world. We pass our thoughts and feelings to our students through to our lessons. We want to inspire our children to do more, see more, learn more, be more. And through doing so we will show them all of the incredible things our planet has to offer. We should help them develop a positive vision of the future and build confidence in their abilities to achieve it. These are the ideas that are contagious and you will see students naturally take on leadership roles.
TLDR: By nurturing and guiding our students we can naturally develop their leadership abilities by inspiring a positive achievable vision of the future.
