Hello!
My full name is Amario Willie Glenn Bennett and Chinese name 林非(Lin Fei). I am of American nationality and been in China since September 14, 2005 which is my birthday. Ever since the summer of 1996, languages have been a passion of mine starting with Spanish. Since that time, I have studied that in addition to French, Chinese, and now Cantonese. I hope that I will be at the same level as my Mandarin in a year and a half from this time. My major was/is Biology when completing college at the University of South Carolina in 2002. I had also extensive amounts of Spanish study as well doing this time in colleges. It was hard to find something in my major with only a BS degree. So, I temporarily set out for odd end jobs like a stocker/cashier or administrative specialist. Once I decided to pursue a teaching career to enter China and learning Chinese, I was finally content of all the years spent in college were not in vain. Since arriving in China I have had extensive amounts of English teaching and self training in grammar and understanding of English through study from other languages. I have taught all levels in boarding schools and well as training centers. Further, I had the opportunity train Chinese clients for visa preparation as a non-English instructor. At times, I felt that my teaching was not doing anything mainly because I had so little influence in the middle schools. However in general, I did succeed in the schools and most of the students really did enjoy me even at foreigner standards in China. The last and longest school where I had attended for 5 years at Wuhou Foreign Language School of Chengdu China the administration wanted me for another year but I had to leave. In All, although I have not had the extensive training that I am getting now, I still believe that I did a really good job according to the feedback from students and their parents, oral results from my teaching, test results and of course the approveal from my boss. Teaching is not my passion but language is. So I have call to "middle ground" so to speak. I hope that I can be even a better teacher in the future of my stay in China.
